The City of Arkadelphia supports many different recycling initiatives. In case you have been wondering what to do with your live holiday trees when they begin to wilt and shed needles, here's an idea -- donate them for fish homes!
The Army Corps of Engineers has recommended that holidays trees, minus all the lights and décor, be recycled in local lakes to create fish habitat. The Corps of Engineers has said to drop undecorated live trees at the side of boat ramps at Lake DeGray, Greeson, or Ouachita to allow local fishermen or the Corps staff to deposit the trees by boat. If you have questions, please call 870-246-5501 [ext. 64005]. Happy recycling! |
